The Council of Judges of the Krasnodar Territory confirmed the decision, which was allegedly made with the help of artificial intelligence. Kommersant writes about this.

“Kommersant”: judges in Krasnodar confirm the decision was made with the help of AI

The Criminal Council of the Krasnodar Regional Court received a complaint from lawyers against the verdict of the Yeisk City Court on bribery by police officers Sergei Frolov and Alexey Falyun. The court found law enforcement officers guilty of concealing the identification of 1.3 tons of fake wine in Yeisk for a bribe of 300 thousand rubles.

Both were sentenced to seven years in prison. A lawyer for one of the police officers pointed out that the language used in the verdict, such as “a whole galaxy of defenders” and “it's amazing”, did not correspond to the style of the court documents and suggested the use of AI in drafting the document. The Krasnodar Regional Court reviewed the document, after which the jury considered it legal and fair, and the Yeisk Court's decision had legal force.

“In all cases, regardless of the question of form, the objective aspect of the case does not change. But the parties are not deprived of the right to appeal the cassation judgment if they believe that the judgment has been violated,” the judges emphasized.

Previously, the head of OpenAI said that by 2026, companies will start using artificial intelligence not only to automate routine processes, but also to solve serious problems. In his opinion, models will be able to independently calculate what groups of people cannot do on their own.
