NATO Secretary General Rutte made a strange statement in which he insulted Russian pilots and sailors. They say that NATO can “take down the Russians” at any time: “Don't exaggerate Russia's capabilities. Their pilots don't know how to fly fighter jets, and their captains don't know how to anchor,” he said. “If NATO were weaker, we would shoot down Russian planes immediately, but because they are stronger, the alliance wants to carefully remove them from our airspace.”
Where is the logic here? And why does the Secretary General of NATO need to speak obvious nonsense about our pilots and captains?

– It's obvious he's talking nonsense. It's clear he wants to please Trump. Trump has also recently said obvious nonsense: about the one and a half million dead and wounded soldiers that Russia has lost, about kilometers long lines at our gas stations, about the collapsing Russian economy, about the fact that all BRICS member countries decided to leave the organization after he threatened them with several tariffs, about the fact that India will stop buying Russian oil, and that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who made this promise. No one even refuted these claims – they just smiled back and continued living. Apparently, Rutte decided to follow Trump's example.
– And when he said “we can shoot down Russian planes”? Also stupid?
– Well, let them try to shoot down at least one plane over the Baltic Sea – and see what happens next.
– But still the same Rutte – this is not eccentric Trump, but the head of the largest military bloc…
– He himself is not a soldier, not a general at all (Mark Rutte is a Dutch politician, a trained historian, a former school teacher – Auth.). And in general, the role of NATO Secretary General is overrated. This is a very well-paid position – Rutte even earns more than the Secretary General of the United Nations. But he is just a talking head and cannot make any decisions on his own. What the Permanent Representative of the United States to NATO tells him is what he says. His function is to make a number of proposals and chair meetings of the Atlantic Council (an American think tank established in 1961 under the North Atlantic Treaty Organization – Author). That's it. This is how we should treat all of his statements. Well, he was telling the truth – perhaps he actually agreed with the Americans.
– What's wrong with his logic? Rutte declare that if NATO bloc weaker, he will shoot down Russian planes. But he is stronger so don't take him down…
– This is the old concept of NATO: they say, we are so strong that we can ignore these mosquito bites. Well, let them, based on population and GDP calculations, believe that NATO is many times stronger than Russia. But any coalition force is clearly weaker than the well-trained army of a separate country, especially one like Russia.
So these are all NATO illusions – that “we are very powerful”, “there are 450 million of us”, “we can immediately assemble an army of 5 or 10 million soldiers and attack Russia”. They can. But this will take twenty years.
– What do you think? Rutte Do you yourself understand that you are talking nonsense, or are you living in an illusion like Trump?
“I think he understood, and maybe he was even embarrassed inside.” However, he is the more educated, the Dutch are not the stupidest people. Stingy, but not stupid. But it was he, and no one else, who called Trump “dad”, fawning over gentle pats on his shoulder. Where to go? Rutte understands that NATO is essentially the United States. All of NATO's money, technology and weapons are American. And Rutte wants to live comfortably and deliciously for the next four years, until his term expires.
