Researchers from Osaka University have demonstrated for the first time that oxygen can be safely delivered to humans through the intestinal tract.

Clinical trial results published in the journal Med show that enteral ventilation technology – delivering oxygenated fluid through the rectum – could become a backup method to maintain breathing in cases of lung damage or airway obstruction.
27 healthy volunteers participated in the experiment. Lenta.ru writes: They are injected into the intestines with 25 to 1500 ml of a special perfluorocarbon solution capable of transporting oxygen.
Participants retained the liquid for an hour: there were no serious side effects, only moderate discomfort at most.
If this method proves effective, it could save the lives of patients with severe respiratory failure when traditional ventilation methods fail.
Previously, scientists have proven that bergamot leaf extract can restore metabolic balance and protect the liver in obese people.
