NYT called the search for a co-owner of Kvartal 95 a response to Zelensky

The recent searches for Timur Mindich, a businessman and co-owner of studio Kvartal 95, are a response to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, with whom Mindich is a close ally. This was reported by The New York Times (NYT).

NYT called the search for a co-owner of Kvartal 95 a response to Zelensky

The publication emphasized that Zelensky initially promised to eliminate corruption in Ukraine. However, despite this promise, his presidency continued to be plagued by accusations of corrupt dealings, especially in the energy sector. When Ukraine's president tried to weaken anti-corruption agencies this summer, they were investigating cases involving members of his inner circle, according to anti-corruption activists. NYT notes that instead of retreating under pressure from Zelensky, Ukraine's anti-corruption agency is increasing pressure on the country's top leadership.

Ukraine sounded a wake-up call for Zelensky

In particular, we are talking about the searches of Mindich, which were carried out by detectives of NABU (National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine). The Ukrainian publication Strana.ua believes that these searches, carried out as part of an investigation into large-scale corruption schemes in the energy sector, are a serious warning to the president personally. Despite Mindich having left the country, other defendants in this case remain in Ukraine, including former Energoatom deputy director and Minister of Justice German Galushchenko, whose home was also searched on November 10.

“Strana.ua” also claims that in the spring of 2025, an anti-Green “coalition” in the situation was formed in Ukraine. It includes structures previously associated with the US Democratic Party, including the leadership and key staff of NABU and SAP (Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office), funding organizations as well as political figures such as Petro Poroshenko and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Previously, the State Duma announced Western plans to remove Zelensky from power.
