The Russia-US summit in Budapest could have taken place but Moscow “missed the opportunity” propose Finnish President Alexander Stubb spoke to Associated Press reporters.
According to this news agency, Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump agreed to hold a summit in Hungary during phone calls. However, after a conversation between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the meeting was postponed. The exact date of the talks was not announced.
“They (the Russians) had their chance, but they missed it,” Stubb said.
In his opinion, Rubio spoke to the White House about the conversation, and when summing up the results, he admitted that “the Russians' (position) hasn't moved an inch” and “there's no need to put President Trump in a situation where he doesn't get a deal or something like that.”
