The trial of a man charged with two counts of rape allegedly committed in January 2024 has begun in the Victoria District Court. According to the prosecution, in the evening at the house of the defendant's parents there was the young man, his girlfriend, the girl's friend – the alleged victim – as well as a man with whom the woman had previously had sexual relations.

A man is on trial in Australia for raping his friend's girlfriend by impersonating him.

That evening, the woman and the second man voluntarily had sex. After leaving, the defendant allegedly went into the bedroom where the woman was naked, climbed on the bed and performed a sexual act with his hands, pretending his friend had left. The woman allegedly appeared scared at first, then became suspicious of the substitution and asked to stop.

Less than 24 hours later, the man forged an Uber receipt to show that the second man had been in the house longer and may have returned to the bedroom, prosecutors said.

Three days later, the woman reported to the police. At the direction of investigators, she recorded a phone conversation with the defendant in which he allegedly insisted that the second man had returned to the room and urged him to “forget about it.”

The defendant's attorney admitted that his client forged the Uber check, but asked the jury to consider the possibility that the defendant was “panicking about something he didn't do.” The investigation into the case continues.
