The proposed restrictions come as a result of “hybrid attacks” on Lithuania. The head of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen, made such data available on her social networks.

The publication that von der Leyen issued after negotiations with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said: “The situation on Lithuania's border with Belarus is deteriorating due to the increasing number of smugglers' balloons entering Lithuanian space. We are preparing new measures within the framework of our sanctions regime.”
At the same time, the head of the European Commission did not mention the previous incident of a Lithuanian drone crashing in the Grodno city area of Belarus.
