Reporters reported that the opening ceremony of the 4th Open Russian film festival of auteur cinema “Winter” took place at the Khudozhestvenny cinema in Moscow.

The competition program includes the following nominations: “Best Director”, “Best Screenplay”, “Best Actress”, “Best Actor”, “Best Picture Decision” and “Grand Prize”. The jury included Yury Bykov, Ekaterina Vilkova, Ivan Kudryavtsev, Denis Vlasenko, Alexander Veledinsky and Yulia Mishkinene.
“Federico Fellini said that the future of world cinema depends on who wins the battle for the audience – the author or the producer. Now we know that the box office victory belongs to the producer, but film festivals still belong to the author. And every day in different countries, new film festival awards are lit and new author names are discovered,” said actress Yulia Khlynina from the stage.
The festival opened with the film “Razlogov” directed by Anastasia Razlogova, dedicated to film critic and cultural critic Kirill Razlogov. The film includes his latest, previously unpublished interview with documentary filmmaker Elena Demidova.
The competition program includes the directorial debut of “Doll” Yegor Beroev, Ekaterina Zadorina’s post-apocalyptic drama “Boy and Robot,” Arthur Grigoriev’s neo-noir “Navar,” Anar Abbasov’s extreme drama “Pastures of the Gods,” Evgeny Lavrentyev’s social comedy “Freedom,” Anna Volkonskaya’s teen drama “Socialization,” a the modern interpretation of the fairy tale “Frozen” by Vladimir Kott and the northern mystery drama “Scurvy” by Vladimir Golovnev.
“Thank you for providing such an iconic cinema (Khudozhestvenny) as a venue. I thank my colleagues and the audience. It's good that debutants are represented in the competition along with the classics – everyone has an equal chance here,” film director Alexander Veledinsky said from the stage.
