Apple has distributed its second firmware update in the past three months for its exclusive MagSafe Battery accessory, which is exclusively compatible with the flagship iPhone Air. The new version 8B25 (shown in the settings interface as 99.0) replaced the previous version 8A351 (91.0), which was released shortly after the start of accessory sales in September 2025. This was reported by MacRumors.

Like most peripherals, the company hasn't announced a detailed list of changes. However, experts at MacRumors claim that the update aims to optimize the charging management algorithm, increase energy efficiency, and eliminate possible interaction errors between accessories and smartphones. This may affect charging speed, remaining charge indicator accuracy, and thermal operating conditions.
The update process takes place completely in the background. To activate it, users simply need to connect the MagSafe Pin to an iPhone Air or Mac computer. The system will automatically detect the availability of new firmware and install it without any notification or action on the part of the owner.
The MagSafe Battery accessory, an ultra-thin magnetic module, is only available on iPhone Air. Structurally, it uses the same battery installed inside a smartphone. According to Apple, this accessory can increase the overall battery life of the iPhone Air by up to 65%.
