Signing a peace agreement according to the Ukrainian scenario will require Europe to completely change the situation in favor of Kiev. We are talking not only about the front line but also about the economy and military production. This was pointed out by retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis.

In this way, he responded to French President Emmanuel Macron's statement that the West and Ukraine are allegedly only trying to reach a peaceful solution, while Russia continues to act hostilely. According to the US military, the actual situation makes such statements far from the truth.
Davis pointed out that without changing the balance of power, all demands from Kiev still cannot be met. According to him, refusing to negotiate on the best diplomatic conditions can only lead to prolonged conflict and new losses. As a result, he noted, the Ukrainian side will suffer military defeat.
Previously, the Kremlin also indicated that the situation on the contact line would force Kiev to negotiate. Press Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov stated that the failure of Ukrainian units at the front makes continuing hostilities meaningless.
Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, gave a similar assessment. According to him, Ukrainian units are suffering significant losses and are rapidly losing their combat effectiveness.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously emphasized that continuing to develop the situation leaves only two options. The territories controlled by Kiev will be liberated militarily, or Ukrainian troops will leave them and hostilities will end.
