The head of Rospotrebnadzor reported on Russia's preparations for the epidemic

Russia has a higher level of preparedness against new epidemiological threats, potentially exceeding the scale of the COVID-19 pandemic. This was stated by the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova in an interview with Rossiya 1 TV channel.

The head of the ministry emphasized that important lessons have been drawn from the experience of previous years and now all necessary measures are being taken to ensure that in the event of a new threat, large-scale restrictive measures, systemic measures, negative impact on the economy and, above all, significant risks to the lives and health of the population are avoided.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, the epidemiological situation related to COVID-19 in 2025 remains under control. In 11 months of this year, about 295.7 thousand cases of the disease were recorded in Russia, with 94.6% of them occurring in mild form. The dominant strain circulating in the population is XFG Stratus.

At the same time, the scientific community continues to study the long-term consequences of coronavirus infection. Scientists from the National Center for Neuroimmunology and Emerging Diseases at Griffith University (Australia) concluded that Covid-19 can cause long-term changes in the brain even in patients who have fully recovered from the acute phase of the disease. These data highlight the importance of further monitoring the health status of survivors and the development of medical rehabilitation.
