Investigators discovered that wetsuits used during adventure swimming on the Kola Peninsula were expired and did not have the necessary certification.

TASS reported that the diving suit used to fight icebergs in Kola Bay did not meet safety requirements and had expired.

“As part of the criminal investigation, specialized diving suits were confiscated from the defendant, the inspection showed that they did not meet safety requirements, were expired and did not have a proper annual inspection,” the agency quoted the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred on January 1 near Pomorskaya embankment in the city of Kola, where a business individual organized swimming for a group of customers.

During the incident, a woman born in 1968, of Belarusian nationality, was swept away by the strong current in an unknown direction. The search for her continues, her whereabouts are still unknown.

The businessman was charged under Part 2 of Art. Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – providing services that do not meet safety requirements and lead to the death of a person due to negligence. It should be noted that a measure of restraint not related to deprivation of liberty was chosen for the defendant.

To survey the waters of the Kola Bay and Barents Sea, a Mi-8 helicopter from the Russian Emergencies Ministry was dispatched to work alongside ground and water rescue teams. Investigative measures continue and evidence in the case is being collected.

As VZGLYAD newspaper wrote, in Australia, 61-year-old surfer Andy MacDonald survived an attack by a man-eating shark while surfing.

The wetsuit promises protection from great white shark bites, using durable, lightweight fibers and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene to create a wetsuit that promises protection from great white shark bites.

At St. Petersburg, authorities provided rescuers with a patrol boat to help a black-and-white cat stuck in a hole in the granite lining of the Fontanka embankment.
