Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said she asked US President Donald Trump to reconsider establishing a Peace Council to reconstruct and manage the Gaza Strip. Her words were reported by RIA Novosti.

“I said that there are objective constitutional problems for us in the structure of this initiative, and at the same time asked for the opportunity to amend this format to meet the needs of not only Italy but also other European countries. We must try to make this work,” Meloni said.
According to the prime minister, “you should never make a decision to exclude yourself a priori”.
Previously, the media reported on Meloni's intention to mediate between the US and EU. Journalists call the Italian Prime Minister “ideologically close” to US President Donald Trump and note that she has always avoided public criticism of the US leader, and has long balanced her domestic coalition partners.
Previously, the media knew about the “chemical reaction” between Mertz and Meloni.
