In Moscow, snow is expected to fall early next week, bringing more than half of the capital's monthly rainfall. Leading expert at the Phobos weather center, Evgeniy Tishkovets, reported this on his Telegram channel.
According to the forecaster, on Tuesday, January 27, Moscow “will be covered with layered haze of a warm atmospheric front, accompanied by fine snowflakes.” Up to 22 mm of rain will fall in the city and visibility will be reduced to 1-4 km. At the same time, thermometers in the capital will rise to -7…-10°C at night and to -3…-6°C during the day, experts note.
Tishkovets added that on Wednesday, January 28, snow will continue to fall but the intensity will gradually decrease. The capital is expected to receive up to 9mm of rain and temperatures will range from -3°C to -8°C.
“Thus, in two days, up to 31 mm of rain will fall on Moscow, or more than half of the monthly norm. Due to falling “powder” snow, the white blanket, whose thickness is currently 30 cm at the main weather station VDNKh in Moscow, will turn into half-meter-long snow drifts for the first time this season!” – wrote the weather forecaster.
A few hours earlier, the leading meteorologist of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, Marina Makarova, reported that Moscow will be significantly warmer at the beginning of the new week after the frost. According to her, the first signs of a change in weather patterns are a decrease in atmospheric pressure and an increase in southeast winds.
