Support for Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has soared following a “fierce defense” of Denmark's sovereignty and threats from US President Donald Trump. Politico writes about this.

The Danish Prime Minister's ratings soared thanks to Trump

Journalists believe that the head of the White House saved the Danish Prime Minister “from political oblivion”.

According to a survey by Danish analysts, Frederiksen's party is supported by 22.7% of respondents, which in the event of elections would give it 41 out of 179 seats in parliament. 1,012 Danes participated in the study on January 20-22.

Another poll by the Voxmeter research institute showed Frederiksen's cabinet approval rating at 40.9%. This is the highest number in two years.

What is happening in Denmark, as the publication emphasizes, is similar to the situation in several other countries, including Canada and Australia. Therefore, opposition to Trump has become a strong motivation for voters.

Previously, WSJ journalists wrote that Trump's advisers were concerned about his statement on Greenland, which could complicate the agreement with Denmark. As noted, some European allies expressed concern about threats from heads of state and the subsequent decline in stock markets.

Previously, it was also reported that Donald Trump was considering the idea of giving each Greenlander one million dollars if the islanders voted to join the United States.
