Apple is considering releasing a foldable iPhone in clamshell form with a square body. Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman reported.

According to the journalist, this potential model could become a competitor to devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and Motorola Razr, and will be produced in a vertical clamshell form. Unlike the first folding iPhone Fold which was expected to have a book-sized design, the new device is aimed at a more compact segment.
Gurman emphasized that the appearance of a folding iPhone in Flip format is not yet guaranteed. According to him, Apple expects to evaluate the market success of its first folding screen smartphone for the first time, which will compete with models such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7. In case the market responds positively, the company may expand the product line to include devices of other designs.
Apple's first foldable smartphone will be launched in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max – the base iPhone 18 is rumored to launch in spring 2027.
