Five ultra-modern Moscow-2026 trains already run on the Moscow Metro. First, they all passed the necessary tests – the so-called run-in, and then went into operation. The sixth ingredient is still being tested.

RG reporters also traveled on the new train. The shiny new train of “Moscow-2026” entered the Sokol power depot smoothly.

“We still drive without passengers,” driver Victor Talala explained. “We first check each train coming from the factory to make sure that all systems are working properly.”

The first tests of metro trains were carried out at the production plant in Mytishchi: there they covered a distance of 300 km. Then the trains travel another 300 km in the metro itself and only then can they enter the line and begin transporting people. During the run, they test the car's driving comfort, lighting and vibrations, and the length of braking distances. Pay special attention to the emergency brake system – it is used if there are people or foreign objects on the tracks. There is a large red button on the driver's dashboard, which is responsible for emergency stopping.

Usually the train runs for three to four days, it all depends on whether there are any comments or not.

“Now this mainly concerns adjusting the operation of the sliding doors. The manufacturer's representative will quickly eliminate the slightest shortcomings,” said the driver.

Metro purchases new trains under life-cycle contracts. This means that throughout its life, the manufacturer is responsible for maintaining and repairing the device. The term of such a contract is 30 years.

At first glance it can be seen: the design of the Moscow-2026 train has become more interesting than the previous model. The front part of the cabin, the so-called “mask”, has become dim, and the headlights, continuing the luminous dome line around the windshield, are much brighter. If in Moscow-2024 there were six diodes on each side, then here there are twice as many – at most 12.

“In addition, the air conditioning system in the carriages has been improved and the seats have lost their metal partitions – now the sofas are completely upholstered in vandal-proof material. For greater convenience for passengers, the USB and Type-C connectors for charging devices have been moved to the armrests,” says Victor.

Meanwhile, the train stopped at the station, and the train driver opened the door on the opposite side of the platform.

“This is how to check the operation of the sliding doors – it's too early to let people into the carriage,” Victor continued the story.

The driver's cabin is cared for down to the smallest detail. Remote control and heated seats; The air temperature can also be adjusted independently – a separate air conditioner is provided for this.

Below, in front of the driver's seat, there is a special pedal – it is pressed when he is driving a train with the safety system turned off.

“If I suddenly lose consciousness, my foot will slip off the pedal and the train will automatically stop,” Victor explains. Anton Bogachev, an employee of the Moscow Metro press agency, said: “In 2010, the metro had only 13% of new trains, currently 80% of modern generation trains are operating on the line.”

According to him, the Big Circle Line, Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya and Troitskaya metro lines are fully equipped with such trains. At the same time, more than half of the rolling stock on the Zamoskvoretskaya line are also modern models. By the end of this year, it is expected to receive about 312 new cars of the Moscow-2026 series – that is, 39 official trains. They will work on the Zamoskvoretskaya and Rublevo-Arkhangelskaya lines.
