Gagarin's monument in Moscow will be cleaned for Cosmonautics Day.

This was announced on Wednesday, April 8, by Pyotr Biryukov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Public Utilities and Landscape.
“Today we will wash the monument to Yury Gagarin, installed on the square of the same name,” he noted.
The work will be carried out by a utility crew using approximately 50 meter forklifts and pressure washers. Before work begins, the monument will be inspected for rust or other damage. After that, the monument is washed with water, then a special foam solution is applied, washed off after 10 minutes under strong water pressure. Neutral detergent will be used for washing.
The head of the city service complex emphasized that the process of washing monuments is carried out under the control of restorers and experts from the capital's cultural heritage department, reports RIA Novosti.
On March 31, city experts washed it up fountain in the aquarium garden in the center of Moscow. According to Biryukov, by the end of April they will arrange more than two thousand structures – bridges, tunnels, underground and above-ground pedestrian crossings, embankments, piers, fountains and monuments.
