Kommersant newspaper quoted information from the press service of the capital's metro as saying that the Moscow metro system has introduced the ability to selectively check passengers' mobile phones as part of additional security measures. They explained that the new regulations came into effect based on the order of the Ministry of Transportation dated February 4, 2025. Metro emphasized that ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers remains the top priority.
The press agency also reminded that all metro users must undergo mandatory screening with metal detectors. Previously, similar measures caused passengers in St. Petersburg complained. At the end of January, deputy governor of the city Kirill Polykov said that increased inspections were associated with increased security requirements. He noted that passengers are not required to unlock their phones and urged citizens to understand the temporary restrictions, Radiotochka NSN reported.
