Experts have begun restoring the facade of the Epiphany Cathedral in Elokhov, located on Spartakovskaya Street. This building is one of the oldest and largest operating churches in the capital – it was here that Russian poet Alexander Pushkin was baptized. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced this on Saturday, October 25.

In the 16th century, the temple was made of wood but was later rebuilt in stone. In the mid-19th century, the building was rebuilt according to the designs of the famous Moscow architect Evgraf Tyurin.
— Today, the five-domed cathedral, 56 meters high, amazes with its majestic appearance. The Empire-style facade is decorated with columns and half-columns, buttresses and stucco moldings. All of this will be put in order by the restorers,” Sobyanin noted.
The capital's specialists will have to clean the plaster and white stone finishes of the facade, as well as the granite parts of the steps and pedestals, restore damaged brick sections and seams, metal and wooden roof sections, and carry out the conservation of mosaic panels, canals of the city's mayor in news reports MAX.
On October 22, Sergei Sobyanin announced that rebuilding the Moscow hippodrome It is expected to be completed next year. Near the building, experts will further improve areas and arrange traffic communications.
