A resident of Mexico, Vivian Nosovitsky, told of life with parasites in her eyes. Daily Mail writes about this.
Nosowicki, 21, moved to Mexico from the United States. According to the girl, in her new country she often went to the beach: sunbathing and swimming. One night, she woke up with severe pain in her eyes. He turned red and started crying. The girl thought that everything would be over by morning, but the situation only got worse: she became hypersensitive to light.
At the hospital, Nosovitsky was prescribed eye drops but they did not help. Her eyes were swollen, her corneas turned gray and her vision was impaired. The girl turned to another clinic for help. There, they discovered that amoeba of the genus Acanthamoeba had taken up residence in her eye and had begun eating her cornea.
Doctors explained to the girl that her condition was dangerous: she could lose her eye. They believe that the patient was infected with parasites due to improper contact lens care.
She is currently being treated but the pain has not improved. The girl said: “It feels like your eyes are being cut by knives and glasses.” She admitted that she couldn't bear this pain anymore and was tired of hiding from the light and sitting at home.
It was previously reported that a US resident contracted a rare infection caused by a brain-eating amoeba parasite that entered the body through tap water. Despite the efforts of doctors, the patient suffered from cerebral edema and could not be saved.
