TV users running Google TV complained about technical glitches that arose after the implementation of the Gemini voice assistant AI. Complaints appeared on forums including Reddit.

Gemini's rollout on Google TV began last September. The first device to support the new assistant was the TCL QM9K TV, after which the function became available on other models. The assistant allows you to conduct a dialogue with the user and perform basic commands.
However, TV owners complain that when they try to use the search feature, the system restarts the initial setup process. The interface will prompt you for permission to use your library and calendar data and to select your assistant's voice. After the process is completed, the system will return to its original state.
On Reddit, users demonstrated a repeating cycle regardless of whether personalized search results were enabled or not. According to some participants in the discussion, the temporary solution is to remove the latest Google TV update.
Google has yet to comment on the situation.
