Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that by the end of 2027, the company could start selling the humanoid robot Optimus.

“We have some Tesla Optimus robots performing simple tasks in the factory. I believe that by the end of this year they will be performing more complex tasks,” he said at the World Economic Forum in Davos. “I believe that by the end of next year we will be selling humanoid robots to the public.”
Musk came up with the idea of producing humanoid robots in August 2021. In October 2024, the humanoid robot Optimus was introduced to the public. Musk noted that it will cost between $20k and $30k and “everyone can afford it.” In May 2025, Musk showed off footage of the robot dancing, and in October, footage showed Optimus appearing on a red carpet in Hollywood, where he demonstrated kung fu techniques.
