The ruins of an ancient Roman fortress were discovered by archaeologists during excavations in southeastern Crimea. This was announced by Oleg Markov, Development Director of the Archeological Foundation .

According to him, the fortress was active around the 1st century BC and was part of the defensive fortification system of the Bosporan kingdom. It is located in a strategic location overlooking the Kerch Strait.
The excavation is being carried out by the Southern Bosporan expedition of the Crimean Archaeological Institute and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
