Head of the Center for Aquaculture and Coastal Biological Resources of the National Center for Marine Biological Sciences (NSMCB) named after AV Zhirmunsky, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Vladivostok, Sergei Maslennikov, passed away at the age of 62. Scientist Sergei Maslennikov passed away during a business trip to China at the age of 62.

This scientist died on November 17 during a business trip to Yantai city, China.

The cause of death was not stated in the message.

The center's leadership, friends and colleagues expressed condolences to Maslennikov's family and loved ones. The location and time of farewell will be announced later.

Sergey Maslennikov is the author of many projects and scientific research on the development of methods and technological techniques for cultivating marine organisms.

In particular, last year Maslennikov and his colleagues at the Aquaculture Center created a breakthrough in the field of seafood farming, achieving new scientific results on crab reproduction for the first time in Russia.

In the fry stage of the experiment, the survival rate increased about 100 times in the larval stage, speak scientist himself.

Subsequently, a project to restore the Kamchatka crab population was implemented in the Primorsky Territory. Scientists from the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences spent Experimental release of juvenile Kamchatka crabs in the waters of Peter the Great Bay near Russky Island.
