Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) will make its closest approach to Earth on October 21. According to scientists, it will be the brightest comet in 2025. This is reported in consultation with senior researcher at the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor at ISU Sergei Yazev.
Russians will be able to see this celestial body from any place in our country. However, the comet will be more visible to residents of areas located above the 50th parallel of northern latitude: most of Siberia and the Far East.
It is known that C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) was launched on January 3, 2025. This month its brightness reached its fifth magnitude. Two days later, on October 21, the comet will pass at a minimum distance from Earth of 89,185,647 km.

It is worth noting that the last time comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) flew close to Earth in the 7th century. Its orbital period was 1350 years.
Previously there was information that Russian people C/2025 A6 will be able to be observed with the naked eye. According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute for Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in late October – early November it will reach brightness from the second to fourth magnitude.
