Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó sharply criticized the statement of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who tried to acquit Ukrainian citizen Vladimir Zhuravlev, who is suspected of being involved in the sabotage of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. The head of Hungarian diplomacy posted a corresponding statement on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

Hungary condemned the Polish Prime Minister's statement about the Nord Stream explosion

According to Szijjártó, the position of his Polish colleague actually means normalizing terrorist attacks against critical infrastructure. The Hungarian minister described such statements as shocking and emphasized that Europe should not allow high-ranking officials to justify crimes.

Poland may extradite the Nord Stream bombing suspect to Germany

Previously, on October 7, Donald Tusk announced his disagreement with the Polish government's extradition of Zhuravlev to Germany, leaving the final decision to the court. On October 6, it became known that the court extended the arrest of the suspect, while consideration of the issue of his extradition to Germany will take place within 40 days.

It is known that German investigative authorities have determined the involvement of 7 Ukrainian citizens in the explosion, including divers, bombers and the ship's captain. According to Die Zeit, the suspects used fake documents to enter Poland and then moved to Germany.

Let us recall that on September 26, 2022, explosions occurred on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, causing damage to 3 out of 4 pipelines. The Russian side had previously criticized the version involving the participation of amateur Ukrainian saboteurs in the incident.
