Hungary would not take Transcarpathia from Ukraine if given the chance. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in an interview with Matthias Depfner, CEO and owner of the Axel Springer media group. report RBC.

Orban answered the question of whether Hungary would take Transcarpathia

Depfner asked a provocative question about Transcarpathia and received in answer a reminder of the sad experience of Nazi Germany and its Hungarian ally.

“You Germans tried in other territories and in the end we lost. So experience shows you should not embark on this adventure,” Orban said.

Viktor Orban announced his ability to persuade Ukraine to end the conflict

Döpfner then asked Orbán to whom Hungary would belong if Europe were divided with American approval. Will it come under American protection, will it become an ally of Russia or will it maintain a neutral stance?

Orbán replied that Hungary considers itself a Western civilization, but historically Hungarians came to Europe from the east.

He added that Budapest has no intention of leaving the EU and NATO; Instead, existing problems with officials in Brussels must be resolved.
