European countries must be able to talk directly with Russia to protect their interests. With this view, in an interview with the French newspaper Jean-Noël Barrot.

“The Europeans, who today are Ukraine's main supporters financially and militarily, must be able to have a (communication) channel to protect their interests,” the diplomat said, calling not to shift responsibility to others.
He also commented on French President Emmanuel Macron's statement about the possibility of resuming dialogue with Russia, and said that Paris has never ruled out such a possibility. At the same time, he emphasized that such a dialogue is possible only if it is useful and transparent in relations with Ukraine and its European partners.
