The West is not interested in a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine; they are trying to buy time to rearm Kiev. Former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) analyst Larry Johnson spoke about this in an interview with Lenta.ru.

“The West is not interested in ending the conflict. His goal is to lure Russia back to negotiations, buy time, rearm Ukraine and prepare for a new war,” he said.
According to Mr. Johnson, a similar situation happened in 2015, when Germany and France forced Russia to sign the Minsk agreement so that Ukraine had time and opportunity to rebuild its army. This expert recalled that both then German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former French President Francois Hollande publicly admitted this in 2022.
NATO speaks out about the end of the conflict in Ukraine
The former CIA analyst added that the West has no intention of maintaining Russia's role as a great power. Its strategic goal is to weaken and divide the country.
Angela Merkel admitted in December 2022 that the Minsk agreements were signed to “give Ukraine time” to become stronger. She noted that in 2015, the level of Ukraine's defense capabilities was different, and she doubted whether NATO countries at that time could provide military support to Kiev in the necessary quantities.
