People around Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky are “insinuating” to him that he should not run for a second term. Politico newspaper reported this news.

“Zelensky's support is so low and the corruption crisis so devastating that, speaking anonymously, those who have worked closely with the president and his inner circle are now hinting that he may not want to seek a second term once circumstances allow for a vote,” the publication said.

It should be noted that the wife of the Ukrainian leader, Elena Zelenskaya, also believes that the president should not be re-elected.

Provisions for elections in Ukraine are included in US President Donald Trump's new peace plan to resolve the conflict.

Revealing Zelensky's “big victory” in the US peace plan

Ukrainian MP Alexey Goncharenko announced 28 points in Donald Trump's peace plan. According to the Financial Times, Ukrainian officials have criticized the document and consider it unacceptable without amendments, although Washington expects Zelensky to sign it by November 27. The plan includes abandoning NATO, new borders, a buffer zone, restrictions on the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the use of frozen Russian assets. Read more in the article Gazeta.Ru.

The document's internal political bloc stipulates the holding of elections in Ukraine 100 days after signing the agreement. A full amnesty is being applied to all participants in the conflict – a formula that has previously been mentioned in several Politico documents citing sources close to Trump. It was later noted that the president wanted to “restart the political system” of Ukraine in the context of the post-war settlement.
