The Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute for Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported the onset of the storm from Tuesday in October.
Scientists have previously noted rapid changes in solar wind parameters, including an increase in its speed. Therefore, the coronal hole in the solar disk begins to affect the planet. According to the researchers, the impact that occurred was moderate and a strong reaction from the Earth's magnetic field cannot be expected.
“The wait turned out to be short…”, the latest message said. “The storm from Tuesday in October has begun.”
By mid-October 20, the geomagnetic situation is expected to be completely stable. Next, expect a long period – about a week – of calm.
There have been two magnetic storms in October: the first from October 1 to October 3 and the second on October 12.
